Change in Service - Spring 2010 New Change!

What is Grade Book?

Grade Book is a service that Opscan provides to instructors. We can keep track of all the tests you have asked us to scan and give you a single printout that provides the grades for all students, along with a summary score for each student.

After the drop/add period is closed (usually the first ten days of the semester), Opscan will get the official list of students for your class from the mainframe and use that list for the Grade Book results.

In order for the results to be meaningful, Opscan must scan all your tests and every job request form must indicate that Grade Book results are desired.

What kind of printout does the Grade Book option create?

The printout lists all the students in your class along with their University ID numbers, their overall summary score, and all tests.

Students must enter their University ID numbers on the test forms for this function to work correctly.

Sample Grade Book Report

If a student does not fill all of the UID on their form, the scanning software will generate an error report. It is your responsibility to correct such errors using the correction form.

Back to Grade Book Questions

If I find a mistake in the Grade Book printout, can it be corrected?

Yes. The most common error occurs when a student hasn’t entered a complete or correct University ID number on the test, but sometimes other corrections must be made.

To correct such problems, use the correction form that will be enclosed with the error report and enter the student’s information along with the action we should take.

Grade Book Correction Sheet Example

As you can see from this example, there are four update codes, each with their own function.

  • Add Name to List: Use the code "A" to add students to our list who have been added to the class since Opscan downloaded the class list from the mainframe.
  • Delete Name from List: Use the code "D" to remove a student from Grade Book. This is usually done when a student withdraws from the class.
  • Change Test Score: Use the code "C" to change a score of a previously scanned test.
  • New Test Score: Use the code "N" to add test scores of students who appear on the error report, or to add test scores for tests that were taken late and you graded yourself.
