Illinois State University now has its own islands in Second Life! Second Life is
a virtual reality environment where people can interact with others through avatars
and create virtual buildings and objects. We are currently conducting a pilot program
in Fall 2009 and will start a full implementation in Spring 2010. Virtual classrooms,
lecture hall, office space and meeting rooms are available for faculty to use for
instructional purposes. Additionally, faculty may request assistance in creating
simulated environments and projects.
Bill Shields, Geography-Geology Department and Mayuko Nakamura, CTLT will provide technical and pedagogical support for faculty. Limited student support is available by Bill Shields during the pilot phase.
If you would like to use a classroom, lecture hall, office space and a meeting room, please fill out the form below.
If you would like to have your customized virtual environment, instructional settings, or simulated program, please fill out a project application form. We will review your application and discuss the feasibility of the project. Please be aware that some projects may not be possible due to technical limitation or logistic reasons.

The following training options are currently available for faculty who would like to learn to use Second Life.
