Making Teaching Visible (MTV)

When was the last time you viewed a class from the students’ perspectives, observed another faculty member’s teaching style, or reflected on your own teaching style and feelings about teaching? Have you considered trying new teaching strategies but been uncertain about how to make the change?

ISU’s many outstanding teachers – and the approaches that make them so effective – are largely invisible on campus. We think that is a waste of talent and misses an opportunity to share the dedicated teaching on campus.

CTLT has launched “Making Teaching Visible,” which provides opportunities for ISU faculty to visit classrooms of teaching award-winning faculty. Each semester, you can observe your colleagues from a variety of disciplines who teach in a variety of settings.

Below are the hosted classes scheduled for Spring 08 semester. When you find one that interests you, just put the date on your calendar and show up – no registration necessary.

When possible, CTLT will also schedule a post-class conversation with the host professor with those who attend.

Click on “For more information” for course specifics, dates, times, and syllabi. See you there!
