Marcea is a fifth-year Ph.D. student in English Studies currently writing her dissertation (tentatively) titled, “Developing a Pedagogy of Professionalism: The Transition from Student to Professional in (Service) Writing Courses.” Her research interests include technical communication and first-year writing pedagogies, internship programs, student motivation, and issues of professionalism. In addition to her work at CTLT, she also serves as the Technology Liaison for the Illinois State Writing Project, develops tutor training presentations and tutors students at Heartland Community College, and serves as the lead copy editor for the journal Iranian Studies.
Marcea assists CTLT staff members with faculty professional development projects, including the annual Teaching & Learning Symposium, Summer Institute, and New Faculty Orientation. She also assists CTLT Director, Patrick O’ Sullivan, with University Teaching Committee meetings.
Marcea volunteers for the Waterloo, Iowa-based Army Reserves 445th Transportation Co. Family Readiness Group (FRG).
